On the Front Line - Ship Satellite from the Ground Up

Operating the old gantry crane at Sembawang shipyard

Watch a shiny new Sea Tel satellite antenna emerge from the dust of this old Singapore warehouse in this time lapse video shot by our field engineer Chris recently.

The keen-eyed viewer will also spot the vintage gantry crane trundling overhead as it has done at Sembawang shipyard for approaching 90 years. From the early 1930s, long before the age of satellite communications, this building was in a British Admiralty facility. And in February 1942 it was literally on the front-line of the land war in the Pacific.

Now it makes a convenient, albeit slightly dirty place to avoid the Singapore showers while Chris and the team build and install the latest front-line technology for the modern maritime industry.
